| Hello, I have a Medion MD30919PO S13 lcd monitor. Does someone succeed in making this monitor work in Slack and if so, How. I have a AMD 64 system with 2 hard disk and a memory of 1 Gb. On the first of 80Gb is Windows. On the other is My documents and some 43 Gb for Linux. Is it possible to install Slack on this system and if so, what's the best way to achieve this. For Linux, a monitor is a monitor - there is no need for a driver for every particular monitor as with MS. You should be able to find native resolution and Hfreq Vfeq - should not need anything else, and Linux should pick that up on initial probing. > I have a AMD 64 system with 2 hard disk and a memory of 1 Gb. > > On the first of 80Gb is Windows. > On the other is My documents and some 43 Gb for Linux. > > Is it possible to install Slack on this system and if so, what's the best > way to achieve this. | Oke, I understand that , But where can i find the Hfreq and Vfeq. The firm Medion would not support Linux. They only support Windows. At which point you will want to enter that information into the appropriate location inside /etc/X11/xorg.conf. What is the specific problem you are having? Is X not starting up, is the initial frame buffer display not working (that is the text only display with Tux (the penguin) at the top left of the screen)? Gecko |

There is a suite of programs that can find out that for you: http://john.fremlin.de/programs/linux/read-edid/ Slackware might be easier to install than other distributions as the entire installation is done in text mode. There is no need to correctly configure a graphics card, monitor and mouse for installation. By default Slackware is also booted to text mode. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. A lot of (most?) modern monitors show their current resolution and refresh rate somewhere in the setup menu of the monitor. So start in windows and try to read the settings windows is using. You can also find the refresh rate used by windows somewhere deeply burried in the windows driver settings. Google found this on some computer reseller's web site: TFT-Monitor 19" Medion MD30919PO S13 8ms 700:1 Kontrast max. 1280x1024@75Hz Regards, Kees. -- Kees Theunissen. |
