| I'm trying to install Slackware 11.0 alongside WinXP Pro SP2 inc all updates & hot fixes. I have 2 partitions, the first partition is 63.47 Gb with WinXP running within normal parameters .. I want to install Slackware on the 2nd partition which is 48.31 Gb free space. I've booted from the installation DVD however cfdisk is reporting it as 3,907.01 Mb, approx 3.8 Gb. What's going on? Am I not able to install Slackware 11.0 on larger capacity drives? |

I would bet cfdisk show the DVD volume (its 3.8gb). If you are using SATA drives, try "cfdisk /dev/sda" if your computer just own one drive on sata controler. °Yoki |

I tried to install lilo in the superblock & got an Invalid Partition error when I tried to reboot & lost every thing, WinXP included. Don't you just love backups. |

Don't you just love backups. My guess would be that you have used some kind of fake-raid which has confused the view of the disks from the point of operating systems. Maybe XP thought that your sata disks were in a raid setup and Slackware thought that they simply were different sata disks? regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. Next time something like that happens, boot from a DOS diskette or bootable CD, and run "fdisk /mbr" to get Windows back. -- Ayaz Ahmed Khan It is impossible to defend perfectly against the attack of those who want to die. |
