i don't have a mic boost in my kmix for this chipset (hda uli m5461).
i do have one, however, in an other machine with a sblive 5.1 card
(still on 10.2 with its 2.4.xx kernel); there, i can get mic input (even
skype ran, to-day...).

i'm doing something wrong with my sound-on-board asus mobo, seemingly. :-(
