Default O.T. - amarok annoyance

Can anyone explain this to me? I am sitting at witch, with an ssh session
open on wardrobe (the machines were named by my son years ago, and yes,
there is a lion.lan). I would like to run amarok on wardrobe, and
display/control it from witch. Here's what I get:

bill@wardrobe:~$ kwrite --display witch.lan:0
kbuildsycoca running...
(kwrite runs and displays on witch)

bill@wardrobe:~$ konqueror --display witch.lan:0
kbuildsycoca running...
(konqueror runs and displays on witch)

bill@wardrobe:~$ amarok --display witch.lan
: cannot connect to X server
(huh?)

As an aside - Bath uni maths machines were named after characters from Lord
Of The Rings. They were connected by ethernet but I would have though a
Tolkein Ring network more appropriate.

In the early nineties, I was associated with a county library system. We
had a token ring network, as did the county courthouse. The network
administrator worked at the courthouse for the county IT department. At
one point, for his convenience, we set up a point-to-point between the
courthouse and the library, with a Slackware box at each end. He named the
box at the library rivendell and the one at the courthouse mordor. Guess
he didn't really like his day to day work environment.

Not at the moment, but there is this:

bill@wardrobe:~$ amarok --help-all
Usage: amarokapp [Qt-options] [KDE-options] [URL(s)]

The audio player for KDE

Generic options:
<snip>

Qt options:
--display <displayname> Use the X-server display 'displayname'
<snip>

Now I just feel stupid. That works. I swear I tried that last night and it
failed. Thanks.
