Default next version of slackware

does anybody know what kernel version it's going to be based on? Will
slackware still use 2.4?

And in sort of a unrelated topic, how does everyone feel about the new
google groups? I liked the old one better.

My own guess is that Slackware 11.1 or Slackware 12 will have kernel
2.6.16.397 as the default kernel and 2.6.21.3 as an experimental option.
:-)

Nobody, probably not even Pat himself, knows which kernel will be in the
next version of Slackware. The best way to make predictions about what
next version of Slackware will contain and when it will be released is to
follow the development at
http://www.slackware.com/changelog/current.php?cpu=i386

It'll use 2.6.

It sucks, but can we do? It's the only chance we have behind a nasty
ISA proxy!

That's it. It's official. Roger, you can turn off the lights now. You're
work is done.

The next version of Slackware will have the following features:

Grants free DS-3 Internet access for the rest of User's life

Gives User 2,000,000,000 tera-terabytes of memory

User's computer instantly upgrades itself every time there's new hardware

Reverse-engineers any software User chooses, generates an instant
universe-wide market for User's knockoff, and invalidates any copyright
owned by Bill Gates

Causes any Google search to return everything there is to know, and
stores all the information in a hidden file on User's hard disk that only
User may access, without taking up any space

Instantly detects any viruses that appear on User's computer, and
transmits them to all M$ computers on July 5, 2007

Suddenly makes User the most sexually desirable GEEK in the industry, by
all three sexes!

Turns User's "wetware" brain into a computer that can calculate all
stock futures, and pick the best ones

Makes User's computer do anything User wants, before User even thinks of
it

Eliminates all "false slack" from User's life.

Didn't you see the latest Slackware current changelog?

Yeah. I still long back to the good old days of deja-news as they where
before Google bought everything so they could build groups.google.

It will be a 2.6 series.

They both suck, as do users who post to Usenet with it.
