| Anybody using Serial SCSI on Linux? How's the support? I've read on the web that most cards are supported but the question is how well and is SAS supported at install time. I'm currently using Slackware and would like to stay with that, hence the cross-post. I'm thinking of using this adapter: http://www.lsi.com/storage_home/prod...1er/index.html Any experience with this one? It's a PCI Express card which supports both SATA and SAS in a low profile form factor. Thanks, Doug |

So this is really a kernel issue (and apparently resolved per another followup to this post). Once you have a kernel that handles this, it should work in Slackware just fine. If you compile the driver support directly into the kernel, it's just a drop in and you're good to go. If you want it to be a module (I personally see no advantage to this when you are compiling your own kernel unless you only want to use the device sometimes and the driver is rather large) you'll just have to add the appropriate driver insertion. -- |---------------------------------------/----------------------------------| | Phil Howard KA9WGN (ka9wgn.ham.org) / Do not send to the address below | | first name lower case at ipal.net / spamtrap-2007-02-03-1014@ipal.net | |------------------------------------/-------------------------------------| |
