| Built into my new computer, is a CD with which I can play audio CD's and burn 'photo's and ISO's on the partition which has 10.2 on it. That version of Slackware, 10.2 will also read both my slackware DVD and the DVD of Wedding 'photo's I used to test it. I did with some difficulty get the DVD to boot in order to install 11, but having installed it I can't get 11 to either play the audio CD's or read the Slackware DVD. I fully understand that this is something I haven't done, could someone suggest what it is please? My fstab for the CD and DVD is as follows: /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto, user,ro 0 0 /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrw auto noauto, owner 0 0 /dev/hdd /mnt/dvd auto noauto, user,ro 0 0 The kernel is 2.4.33.3 -- Two Ravens "...hit the squirrel..." |

Still no luck with the Slackware disk. However a 'coverdisk' of software does mount and read, the Slackware disk which mounts on 10.2 and reads eventually reports errors on 11 hdd: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } hdd: irq timeout: error=0x00 hdd: ATAPI reset complete hdd: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } hdd: irq timeout: error=0x00 hdd: ATAPI reset complete end_request: I/O error, dev 16:40 (hdd), sector 9193876 This is just the tail end of a huge number of errors including numbers of errors with consecutive Nos. as this sector No. XX tray open when it isn't. -- Two Ravens "...hit the squirrel..." |
