If you don't have composite enabled then you should either enable it in X
or disable KDE trying to use it.

In xorg.conf, you will need:

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

Also, your video card may have additional settings. Lastly, you should
probably consider using X >=7 for compositing. 6.9 (shipped with Slack 11)
is not as reliable.

You may want to look at this:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/slackware-xorg/

I have not tried it, so cannot vouch for it. I used the build script
provided through the x.org website:

http://wiki.x.org/wiki/ModularDevelopersGuide and, in particular:
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xor...om-tarballs.sh

Good luck.
