I am a Linux Newbie. http://groups.google.com/group/alt.o...8e603325ae50d4 There it is at/from google groups. It's one method with which to succeed at getting started with kernel compiling. There I shared what I know/have_experienced on this topic. If you have a bit of patience and keep on learning, I find the Linux experience to be very rewarding. Slackware Rocks! Abaft the beam on the starboard side . . . http://groups.google.com/group/alt.o...rch+this+group see there for more "abaft the beam" sorts of stuff. ** Hey people, we ain't even yet got started with making this thread be confusing all of a sudden . . . ** And now, as I "make leave of the boot topping" I say: Keep on navigating, Slackware! A Road Sign that describes my vehicle says: Tie rod by so and so. Engine by so and so. "Steering and Orienteering by Slackware" Rather than a road map, we may sometimes navigate via a topographic map and various creeks and streams and mountain tops. Oh, just to be out there where there is no navigation via street intersections and traffic lights . . . Hmm this GPS nowadays. Never tried it. whereas someone with truck, instead, say: keep on trucking Later. cu, Alan C | <-<-retal<--<-- |

As mentioned above I was escaping from software that performed private jokes behind my back, so RedHat was a very 'short' visitor, who showed too close resemblance to MS-Glassware. When the command prompt of Slackware opened on my screen I felt at home and learned "the Unix way" in it. So I never looked back.( Not true, I was window shopping around and nothing was so special as to convert to.) BTW, I still have Win98SE (Hebrew variant) as I could NOT teach Linux to write in it properly, it reads OK. Have fun Stanislaw Slack user from Ulladulla. |
