Default Netra 210 will not boot from cdrom

For some reason my Netra 210 will not boot from a cdrom drive. This is
how I'm trying to do it:
Boot up
During boot hi Stop+A
At the ok prompt I enter: boot cdrom -s
Then it comes back with the following as a prompt:
Enter Filename [kernel/sparcv9/unix]

Nothing I do will allow it past that. Can anyone help? I need this
system back up ASAP!

Thank you

Fritz

Where did you get the CD disk you're trying to boot from? Is it a SUN
install disk or something you burned?

What CD are you trying to boot from? If it's a CD you got from Sun,
it's probably not the problem. If it's one you burned from a download,
it could just be that the drive doesn't like that CD! If you are
burning your own CD's, I'm told that it some times helps to burn the CD
at the slowest available speed.

I have tried 3 CDs. All Sun provided. Fist is the Solaris9 Install
disk. The second is the Solaris9 Software disk 1. Third is a Solaris7
install disk. None of them work. I tried to boot from disk on two
different Netra 210 boxes and they both give me the same issue.

That suggests that the problem is hardware; e.g. the CDROM drive, its
cable or the SCSI or EIDE controller. Do you have an O/S installed that
you can use to test the drive? Is the drive in question one that was
supplied/installed by Sun?

I remember seeing this message before, I think it might come from trying
to install on a system that the CD doesn't have support for.

Is the Solaris 9 cd at least 9/05 version?

If it's older then September 2005 then the CD doesn't support that
system.

That was the issue. I had 4/03. Thank you all for your help! ....I'm
starting to not hate Sun quite as much!
Thank you
