Default MIA /etc

Box: Ultra2

/etc is MIA on slice 0. Can boot into single user mode using solaris
CD. I want to burn the backup copy of the /etc directory from tape to
cd (it's the only way I can think to get it on the system because the
tape backup unit is a network storage library). Is it possible to
eject the solaris cd and restore the /etc directory from CD?

No. It's a mounted filesystem.

Boot off the Solaris CD mount the disk with the AWOL filesystem and take
a peek at your lost&found contents. You might be able to copy/move it
back. Unless it got the 'rm -rf *' treatment, that is.

Alternatively, remove and mount the disk in another Solaris system with
your backup-software/tape-system and dump it back. Not sure what your
situation is, though.

Apart from that, there's a Sun Blueprint doc regarding a modified
JumpStart server which includes a NetBackup (other?) client. For future
reference, anyway.

Hope it helps.
