| Okay....so the title about covers what the problem is. I have a server with a blinking status led (the little orange guy). The issue itself has been fixed (was a problem on boot with the X server...prtdiag shows everything to be perfect in the system) but the light continue's to blink it's little heart out. I've googled everything I can think of, I've read all of the manuals for this server, I've even asked on the sun forums...nothing has been found. I just need to get the damn light off as my NOC keeps calling me about it at 10pm asking why it's blinking. Is there a command in Solaris to stop the light or to even see the status of it?? Is this something that I will have to do from the GUI? Thanks in advance. |

There's nothing in the manual about interpreting this, as far as I could tell. (Which is really very strange, since somebody wanted that light, and went to a lot of trouble designing it. Even the shade of amber seems carefully chosen. But how is anyone to know what it MEANS?) I ran all the diagnostics I could find, and nothing turned up wrong, nor did system logs indicate anything that might correlate to the blink. So I re-flashed the SMDC and did some basic configuration on it. I never got the SMDC to work (that's another post) but those steps did clear the blink. > but the light continue's > to blink it's little heart out. > > I've googled everything I can think of, I've read all of the manuals > for this server, I've even asked on the sun forums...nothing has been > found. See: - http://www.sun.com/products-n-soluti...#pgfId-1001667 - http://www.sun.com/products-n-soluti...dex.html#62795 Your X2100 may not have this option. |

Yeah we do not have this option...still fighting with what it could be and the stupid light is still blinking. |

It might be interesting to run the HW diagnostics from the Supplemental CD, although as I mentioned, this didn't reveal anything on my X2100 (and the blink 'fixed itself'[1] anyway). Latest version is on Sun's web site: http://www.sun.com/servers/entry/x2100/downloads.jsp [1] Notwithstanding that "They don't fix themselves" (Spoor, 'Brazil') |
