Default multiport serial card?

hello all,
i want to use a sun machine to administer others sun machines with
serial console. Actually, i did it with a serial cable between different
ttya and ttyb. But one machine has only one or two serial ports, so i am
in search of a multiport serial card.
Someone tell me about sunix (www.sunix.com.tw), but i don't find it
needs a special driver, they indicate only windows, dos or linux driver.
I'm in search of a such card i cn plug into ultra5, blade 100, v440 or
T2000.
What are the references i can find, and do i need a driver, or solaris
is able to use it without special configuration?

thanks for help,

gerard

It might be cheaper to find a box that does what you want instead of a
multi-port serial card.

(BTW: One of the best ways to go about this search is to go to the Sun HCL
and just search down the list for Serial. There's not a whole lot of
companies in this category with cards and driver support under Solaris).

But, some of the boxes from Cyclades are designed for this very thing,
and do it pretty well. Not totally cheap, but things like 8-port
serial ports aren't exactly cheap either.

I would suggest something from DIGI, they work very well and most of
their stuff works on Solaris.

http://www.digi.com

such as PCI based
http://www.digi.com/products/serialc...eleportxem.jsp
This one I have in a U5 supports up to 64 ports at 115 kb/s, I have 32
works great.

or PCI-X based

Well ... I have a 4-port serial card (sBus) for my Ultra-2
machines, and there are Solaris drivers avaiable.

So -- a quick eBay search "Magma serial port PCI" finds:

180054783739

a 16-port PCI card with Solaris drivers. I'm not sure whether they have
drivers for the 64-bit versions of Solaris, but a web search should show
for sure.

It is currently going for $29.99 (USD) with zero bids. Four
days 19 hours to go. (But the auction process may be too slow for you
from France.

And -- FWIW -- the drivers are built into the "sparc" and
"sparc64" versions of OpenBSD, so if you install that, there is no need
to chase down drivers that you are sure will work.

Enjoy,
DoN.
