I wanted to update this for the record. I was able to speak to a nice
person at Sun Storage and as it turns out I needed patch 116669-29
installed. That fixed the extent header issues/warnings/errors and
after a boot -r the erroneous disk7 in format vanished and now the
machine boots fine without any fsck errors. I was able to
successfully run metainit (using the prior parameters which were saved
to a file beforehand) on that soft partition and get everything back.

Now the only minor issue is that one the large of the two soft
partitions/file systems metattach grows it by more space than is
specified. Perhaps another patch will fix that - but my machine and
it's shares are back online.

I only posted here in a tizzy because I didn't think that our Sun
contract was still active but as it turns out it was. Lucky me.
