Default smc - quickest way to notify host down ?

Hi

Been playing with sun management centre, and noticed that there's no
simple agent to find out whether a host is up and responding. Waiting
for the main console to decide that the agent is no longer responding
can take a few hours in some cases.

Is there the equivalent of a ping or agent-responding? module that I
can load, or some other way to find out as soon as possible that a
host isn't responding ?

Thanks

AW
