| I have an Intel Pro 1000 Gigabit network card that runs fine with both Solaris 10 and 11 (Sun Blade 1000), only the performance is disappointing. It is known that for some architectrual flaw Sparc systems use a lot of CPU to handle the network. I have read on www.sun.com that Gigaswift adapters take some load off the CPU and should perform better, however when I read posts around poor sparc performance at gigabit rates, Sun GigaSwift is also always mentioned as the NIC. My question is: would I get a real performance improvement by replacing the Pro 1000 with a GigaSwift? HD |
