I stold them from Singapore. Do you have any idea about generating SS_Update's password for this issue? |

Also, there are many stickers and other serial numbers in various components. Even the Itanium CPUs have serial numbers... Regards, llllrich |

However: If they aren't transferrable, then when/if they try to contact HP for warranty support they will be denied. If the people to whom you sell the system are able to impersonate you well enough to convince HP they are you, you probably have bigger problems. If they are transferrable, you shouldn't really care. rick jones -- denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, rebirth... where do you want to be today? these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway... feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH... |

Thank you rick, I am sure any people can open a hardware case to HP at ITRC website, if he know the server's part number & serial number! Canyou help to clarify the following items? 1. Is it correct that I need SS_Update password generator for removing my server's serial number? 2. Who can supply this software? 3. Can I call HP to remove the server's serial number? |

Fine, and unless the warantee is transferrable, he won't get any support. > Canyou help to clarify the following items? > 1. Ostensibly anything involving SS_Update requires an HP person. > 3. Can I call HP to remove the server's serial number? You can try calling, but I think the reaction will be the same as you have received here. However, if you do call, you should be able to determine whether or not the HW warantee is transferrable. If it is transferrable, you have no worries because whoever buys the system from you can get support without any decpetions on their part. To be painfully honest, at first glance it sounds as though you want to be able to prevent HP or others from knowing you no longer have the system or that whomever got the system got it from you. That will raise a _lot_ of caution flags. Of course, if you do have HP change the system's serial number, HP would know the before and after, so I suppose that should help lower a number of the caution flags... sincerely, rick jones -- oxymoron n, Hummer H2 with California Save Our Coasts and Oceans plates these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway... feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH... |

If the people to whom you sell In Germany it would be different: The manufacturer offers warranty for the part, not to the person or institution. Whoever owns the part may request support. At least for the legally required warranty... > the system are able to impersonate you well enough to convince HP they > are you, you probably have bigger problems. > > If they are transferrable, you shouldn't really care.
