Hi folks,
I am getting this error ("error 81 when fetching irq routing table") when PNP is initializing. The result is that my PCI video card is not able to obtain an IRQ "on Pin A". This is on an older IBM laptop. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks. |

There are a couple of BIOS parameters that you could change, if they exist. I don't know the exacty working of these, but they are something like: PNP OS Installed: No You probably want this set to "No" There are some other settings to try, if the above does not fix: Enable video vertical retrace interrupt (IRQ 9)? No You can normally disable this interupt. There are some other settings related to Plug and Play: IRQ Resources controlled by: Manually IRQ Resources allocated by: Legacy ISA Try manual resource control and Legacy ISA resource allocation. Do you actually need PNP (assuming Plug & Play) for any devices? Sometimes if it's in use it might cause odd behavior like you're seeing. I have a modem that has something on it that gets enabled by Plug & Play, but it also works fine without it even in-kernel. |
